Memorable Mixed Media Collage
Discover the artist within yourself in this inspiring collage workshop. Explore mixed media on watercolor paper with inks, acrylics and gesso. We will use a wide variety of material such as rice paper, yarn and sand. At the last class, we will create a memento of a loved one. This fun class is for beginners and advanced artists alike.

Porcelain Beads: From Clay to Complete

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced jewelry maker, you can take your creativity to the next level designing and making your own special porcelain beads. From clay to glazing to assembly, make beautiful earrings, bracelets or necklaces.

Instructor: Anu Subramanian has been a clay artist and instructor since 2004, selling her work locally, nationally and internationally.

Creative Art Journaling
Through stimulating creative writing, movement and mixed media art exercises we will begin the process of journaling. Find your unique voice, get inspired, and learn a variety of techniques using media that includes collage, stenciling and creating texture. Let your inner child come out to play. Please bring a journal/drawing pad with blank pages. Mixed media weight paper is recommended but not required.

Instructor: Tracey Yokas holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, and is experienced in creative healing work.

Leatherworking

This class will get you started creating beautiful and useful items in leather. You will learn about the different types weights and grades of leather, leather craft tools, fasteners and closures, carving designs and hand sewing, pattern making, coloring and finishing. You will make a custom leather cellphone case or knife sheath by the end of the class.

Instructor: Howard Horwitz is an avid metalworker, woodworker and leatherworker. He specializes in a variety of leather holsters, sheathes, guitar straps, saddle bags, and is excited about passing on this quickly fading art.

Cool and Clever Crocheting
Learn how to crochet or refresh your skills. In 8-weeks read and follow patterns with confidence and complete one-skein wonder projects like a market bag, scarf, headband, or kitchen items. Students need 1 skein of worsted weight yarn and a hook (size H or K preferred) on the first day of class, or bring your work-in-progress for further development.

Instructor: Marcia Bucaro learned the art of crocheting from her Grandmothers, and has shown and sold her work in Ventura County for many years.

Marbled Paper
and Projects
In this class you will learn 2 ways to marble paper and other objects quickly and easily. The last meetings will be spent turning the marbled papers students have made into projects like books, bookmarks, cards and other exciting projects. These papers are great backgrounds for stamping, sketching and make a wonderful framed gift. All materials provided, please bring your own apron.

With the simple stroke of a brush you can create pretty watercolor flowers, grasses, flower pots and more. Knitting for Beginners
Would you like to learn how to knit but don’t know where to start? Learn how to cast on, knit and purl stitches, bind off, read a pattern, and choose the correct yarn and needles for a project. This class is designed for students who have an interest in creating works of art in clay. Instruction includes experience utilizing a variety of techniques including the processes of hand building coils and slabs. Functional and decorative pieces will be finished with glazes.

Instructor: Nilay Akay Singh has a Master’s degree in Ceramics and has been creating beautiful ceramic pieces for local studios.

Beginning Woodworking
This beginning hands-on class will introduce students to the proper use of basic hand and power tools in a woodshop. An in-class safety test will be required before students begin to work on in-class projects including a practice pine cutting board and a quality hardwood cutting board. Students may have time at the end to work on additional projects from home.

Instructor: Daniel Bell teaches in the local district and is the owner of Daniel Bell Construction.
