Introduction to
Fly Fishing
.
Go from classroom instruction to hands on experience in three weeks! The first session will include instruction on gear, knots, fly selection and fishing location. The second session covers rigging your gear, casting techniques and learning to cast a fly. The final session will find you casting at Lake Casitas and nymph and dry fly fishing at a local stream. Additional $10 parking fee charged on last day.

Instructors: Randy Weir and Earl Arnold have over 50 years of fly fishing experience and enjoy teaching others. Both instructors are members of Sespe Flyfishers, and Randy has been guiding on the streams of Ventura County since 1994. (www.tightlinesguide. com).

Hatha Yoga

There are many kinds of meditation and many benefits to meditation such as lowering blood pressure, reducing stress, feeling more emotional balance, increasing creative thinking and awakening our inner spirituality. Meditation is an individual journey that is unique to each person. This class will offer several different kinds of meditation and provide suggestions and tools for creating one’s own meditation practice.

Alexander Technique
Not an exercise in the traditional sense, the Alexander Technique applies body alignment principles to reduce stress, fatigue and muscle tension and to counteract chronic pain due to poor posture, neck and shoulder tension and lower back injuries. This introductory class will benefit daily life by increasing the ability to move with ease and freedom. Wear comfortable clothing.

Hiking for Wellness

This spring we’re offering a new wellness series of hikes with motivational messages to encourage participants to look at life from a different perspective, empowering and inspiring positive change. Liane enthusiastically shares personal, relatable experiences before guiding the group on a fun 2-4 mile intermediate hike. Hiking for Fitness

Offering several hiking options in our local foothills all of which will meet near the flagpole in front of the office at the Conejo Valley Adult School for the first class. Thereafter the class will meet at designated trailheads. Wear sturdy trail-rated hiking shoes and comfortable clothing in several light layers. Water, sunscreen and a light weight backpack or fanny pack are highly recommended. A hat, snack and camera/ phone are also a good idea.

Level 1 – Beginning: No previous hiking experience necessary but capable of hiking 2 miles on trails with gentle slopes.

Instructor: Barrie Silberberg has enjoyed hiking for many years! She is familiar with many trails in the Conejo Valley and will share interesting details at various hiking locations.

Resistance Flexibility Stretching

Based on the ground-breaking system developed by Bob Cooley (www.TheGeniusofFlexibility.com),
this class focuses on resistant flexibility exercises. The missing link in stretching is knowing how to use tension and resistance. Focusing on certain muscle groups along with the corresponding meridian and associated organ, (as in Traditional Chinese Medicine) this type of stretching allows for greater flexibility and strength, and will exceed anything you imagined you would benefit from your flexibility or yoga practice. The class will focus on exercises you can do on your own and on creating a home-practice you can do in 30 minutes or less. You will be amazed at the results! A yoga or work-out mat is required and please wear comfortable clothing.

Would you like to learn about some of the edible and medicinal wild plants growing all around us? This class is a combination of connecting with nature, safely identifying wild plants, and how to transform them into food and medicine.
