| Let’s shop together at Farmer’s Market
and learn what is seasonal and what fresh
vegetables really are! We’ll return to the
kitchen and pair fresh veggies and salads
with a great many vegetable dishes from
appetizers, soups, salads and entrees and
finish with a fresh fruit dessert. Meet Chef
Suzanne at the Thousand Oaks Farmer’s
Market at 4:15 p.m. (at the bus shelter on
Wilbur Road and W. Thousand Oaks Blvd. at
the east end of the Farmer’s Market parking
lot. Look for Chef Suzanne in her chef’s
jacket, carrying a clipboard.) You’ll take a
tour of the Farmer’s Market and then return
to the kitchen at the Adult School. Don’t miss

demonstration of all aspects of food
preservation with an emphasis on food
safety. Topics to be discussed are water
bath and pressure canning, dehydration and
freezing. Various methods of preserving jams,
jellies, pickles, fruits and vegetables will be
discussed. |

Food Preserver/Master gardener with the
University of California Cooperative Extension.
She has taught in countless venues and has
been judging the Preserved Foods entries at
the Ventura County Fair for 25 years.

teachers in the Conejo Valley today. Inspiration
comes from her long, rich family history in
southern Mexico. She has incorporated this

traditional ingredients in new adventurous
ways.

| Learn to cook simple, exotic and vibrant cuisine of the Middle East. The cuisine represents the influences of multiple cultures with dishes that range from spicy to savory to sweet. In this class we will make some of the most widely recognized dishes. We will focus on mezze, or appetizers, as well as make a main dish and a traditional dessert. |
