Join Patty Limatola-Tanenbaum and Susan Bernstein for their fall series of easy entertaining. Enjoy one or all three of the classes. Come to class ready to eat and learn delicious recipes to prepare for your next easy entertaining party.

Instructors: Patty Limatola-Tanenbaum & Susan Bernstein.
Patty Limatola-Tanenbaum is a graduate from the Westlake Culinary Institute and she does blogging at MmGood.com where she posts easy recipes with video tutorials. Susan Bernstein is an amazing cook who specializes in easy and delicious recipes. Together Patty and Susan have been doing catering jobs creating amazing dishes and events.graduated from the Academy of Culinary Education (ACE). She is a private chef, culinary instructor and product developer in the Ventura County.
 
Fall Appetizers
In this first of the series, Patty and Susan will be making some of their all time favorite appetizers from roasted figs and blue cheese, a Brie with jalapeno and cranberry salsa, stuffed mushrooms, hot olives and a super easy spicy artichoke dip.

Cooking Fresh from Farmer's Market

Let’s shop together at the Farmer’s Market and learn what is seasonal and what fresh vegetables really are! We’ll return to the kitchen and prepare fresh veggies into appetizers, soups, salads and entrees and finish with a fresh fruit dessert. Meet Chef Suzanne at the Thousand Oaks Farmer’s Market a 4:15 p.m. (at the bus shelter on Wilbur Road and W. Thousand Oaks Blvd. at the east end of the Farmer’s Market parking lot. Look for Chef Suzanne in her chef’s jacket, carrying a clipboard.) You’ll tour the Farmer’s Market and then return to the Adult School kitchen. Don’t miss the fun!

Meatless Monday

This course is for students who are not strict vegetarians, but enjoy many meatless meals or the want-to-be vegetarian just learning. Learn the basics of healthy vegetarian cooking. Emphasis will be on proper meal balancing, nutrition, saving time in the kitchen, eating out. Several delicious recipes from soups to entrees and veggie side dishes will be prepared using whole grains, soy protein, legumes, fresh vegetables, herbs and spices.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. This class will explore traditional All-American Thanksgiving recipes with a twist that will wow your guests. We will be preparing Butternut Squash Soup with Crumbled Bacon, Herb Roasted Turkey, Orange Cranberry Sauce, Sweet Potato Casserole (more like a dessert than a side) and Traditional Indian Pudding.

Cooking with Trader Joe's

You’ve found all the unique items at your favorite store. Now, what can you do with them? Our chefs will answer your questions about Trader Joe’s new products and help you create interesting, healthful meals using them plus seasonal ingredients. The menu will be based on what is new and fresh at Trader Joe’s. Due to the popularity of this class, we will offer two sessions. The same recipes will be featured, sign up for only one of these sessions.

Instructors: Lisa Scott and T.J. Tramonto. Lisa Scott is a personal chef who has a B.S. in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics. She has been teaching cooking classes at the adult school for 10 years. T.J. Tramonto is a graduate of Westlake Culinary Institute and a professional caterer.

If you have enjoyed our cooking with Trader Joe’s classes in the past, join us for a more in-depth class using Trader Joe’s products. The instructors will use more advanced cooking techniques and recipes for those who are more interested in the art of cooking. The menu will be determined by what new ingredients are available.

Speak-Cook-Eat The Italian Experience
In this interactive class learn how to make a delicious Italian meal and some basic Italian vocabulary; how to introduce yourself and how to order in a restaurant. We will role play while we cook, so be prepared to have some fun speaking, cooking and eating in Italian. No previous cooking or language experience necessary.

Instructor: Clarissa Fishman grew up between U.S and Italy where she spent summers at her grandmother’s house in northern Tuscany. Her first language is Italian. Cooking delicious Tuscan specialties with her mom, aunts and grandmother was a big part of her upbringing. She is a devout foodie and is very passionate about Italian cuisine. She has been an Italian teacher for over 25 years.
