I spent my early years living in India, Ethiopia and Lebanon, speaking 8 languages and traveling to many places around the world. My grandparents and parents were missionaries with the Lutheran Church in South India where I was born and lived until I was 91/2 years old. I went to boarding school for 2nd and 3rd grade. In 1957 we moved to Ethiopia where I graduated from high school. I then moved to Beirut, Lebanon and attended my freshman year at Beirut College for Women. My family was evacuated during the 1967 war. My parents returned to Lebanon and I came here to the Conejo and finished my education at CLU acquiring a California Life Teaching Credential. I taught at Maple Elementary School in a team/multi-age class of 4th, 5th & 6th graders until the end of 1976 at which time my first daughter was born.

My husband and I have been married since 1970. Bob retired from the post office in Simi Valley this past year. We have two daughters. Sara (1976) living in Seattle to get her doctorate in social work. Rachael (1980) lives in Moorpark with her husband and is a medical assistant for the Alamo Medical Center in Simi. They are now attending the infant class with Delilah (5/5/10). We are active in our church. I am the lead guitar player and singer for the early service. Reading, knitting, fishing, camping and gardening are a few of the many things I enjoy. We have a 10 year old Maltese, named Chaucer and a 2 year old Maltese/spaniel named Sadie, along with 2 love birds that keep us entertained at home.

Getting to know so many dedicated and wonderful families confirms my belief that we can create a positive place for us to live. I look forward to all the exciting things we will be sharing together. It never ceases to amaze me how much I continue to learn from the teachers, as well as the parents and the children in this program.

Studying and giving workshops on brain growth and development has been one of my passions for the past twenty five years. I consider myself to be a translator or interpreter of brain research and its practical application to child development, learning, and parenting and the quality of life each of us is capable of experiencing.

Have no doubt, you will hear me talk about the marvelous universe we carry in our heads. I am a guest speaker for high school and college students. I am an educational consultant and workshop leader for public and private schools and colleges. I am one of 6 CDC trainers for California community colleges with the California Early Childhood Mentor Program.
