| About Ms. Summerfield |
Wendy Summerfield grew up in England until her family emigrated to Australia in the late 1960s. She attended Art College and Teacher’s College in Sydney where she earned her Bachelors degree in Art Teaching and worked as a high school and college art teacher there for 15 years during which she became Department head, college advisor and the High School Girls Basketball coach.
Wendy relocated to Thousand Oaks in 1981 where she and her psychologist husband have raised their two boys, who are now 26 and 31 years old. Being educated in England she experienced American school life by volunteering in every classroom and for every sports team that her boys were in through high school and even college and through every imaginable sports league from little League to Soccer to Band.
Wendy worked in the Conejo Valley Unified School district for 15 years as an art specialist at Acacia, Aspen and Lang Ranch Elementary schools and ran the very successful Summer Enrichment program at the Conejo Valley Adult School for 14 years. During this time she went back to school to earn her Masters Degree and illustrated four children’s books.
For the past five years she has worked on marketing and producing the School Brochure and for the past four years has been counseling prospective students at the school who are in need of help deciding upon a job training program. She finds this very rewarding and satisfying as she assists those who are often forced into choosing a new career direction due to the economic climate.
She spends her free time exercising and being an all weather fan for her family’s favorite, although not always successful, UCLA Bruins. |
